The Jumpoff Hiking Trail

The Jumpoff Hiking Trail located off of Newfound Gap Rd the trail is 6.5 miles long round trip with an elevation gain of 1275' with a moderate difficulty rating for hiking abilities and fitness level required. The views as you start off the Appalachian trail taking you past Newfound Gap will allow you to see the NC Smoky Mountains to the South. With parts of the trail being around 6000' elevations the highest most narrow point of the trail will provide views from both sides of you where you can take in a panoramic view of the mountain ranges to the east and west. The trail has a few rugged sections toward the latter part but is still easy to follow. Along the end of the trail you will be able to take in spectacular views of Mt. LeConte. The final destination of The Jumpoff is a optimal viewing point of many of the mountain ranges to the east and is a large enough area that you can plan a time of relaxation or a picnic before you turn back from the views for your journey back.
